What is Pediatric Cardiology?

While fetal paediatric cardiology has methods to address defects prior to birth, fetal echocardiology is still in it’s early years. Much of the time, diagnosis times are prolonged, and babies are left to live with their conditions until after birth. This can make arise a wealth of problems, some being difficult for doctors to address. Whereas the child is suspended in a perfect, safe environment while contained within their mother, the outside world is far from safe. Babies’ hearts are particularly susceptible to shock immediately after being born, and this can cause any pre-existing issues to be considerably magnified. By using exact combination of key sedatives, anesthesiologists can keep babies unconscious whilst performing delicate procedures without the risk of long-term damage
